Yesterday, President Bashar al-Assad confirmed his support for Kurdish fighters who are confronting an attack launched by Ankara in northeastern Syria, without naming them, in a position that came after an agreement under which he began deploying his army in areas controlled by the Autonomous Administration.
Al-Assad said in statements he made during his visit to the front lines against the Islamic and opposition factions in Idlib Governorate (northwest), “We are ready to support any group that carries out popular resistance against the Turkish aggression.” He added: “Of course, this is not a political decision. We are not taking any political decision now. This is a constitutional duty and this is a national duty that we do not need to discuss.”
Bashar al-Assad:“ We are not in a position to blame others. We are now in the heart of a battle, and the only correct action is to mobilize efforts to mitigate the damage of the invasion and expel the invader sooner or later,” stressing that “the priority now is to resist this aggression.”
